WHAT IS THE AI50 ANNIVERSARY WEBSITE?
May 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International. The AI50 campaign will run from May 2011 – May 2012, and will focus on SIX ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGNS. AI50.ca is an innovative website that harnesses the power of social media and digital activism to take action against human rights abuse.
Check out the two ways you can participate:
1. JOIN THE SOCIAL MEDIA ACTION CENTRE
The Social Media Action Centre coordinates Virtual Events, which are like online protests! We've taken the idea of a traditional protest and brought it to the digital world. The Centre coordinates social media messages from human rights supporters to release at the EXACT same time. Networks and inboxes are then flooded in an online explosion for social justice! 2. JOIN THE HUMAN RIGHTS VIRTUAL RALLY
When people rally together in solidarity to send a message, it is truly a powerful force. The Human Rights Virtual Rally brings thousands of supporters, from around the world, together at the same time and same “digital” place to speak out for human rights. Be a digital activist – create an avatar and JOIN THE RALLY >
