We are in the midst of a human rights revolution. Across North Africa and the Middle East, people are rising up against the autocratic regimes that have ruled for decades. Across the region activists have emerged with a resolute determination to see an end to the abuses long carried out by their respective governments. In a few short months, a new era has opened, marked by unprecedented people’s power and a thirst for change, reform and respect for human rights.

Amnesty International has fought injustice in the Middle East and North Africa for even longer than most of the region's current autocratic rulers have held power there. In many countries across this region, the human rights situation is now on a knife-edge. It is essential that our support for human rights does not waver.

Stand in full solidarity with the diverse millions of men and women of all ages who are demanding respect for their rights. The courage of these ordinary people, peacefully protesting for the same human rights enjoyed by people elsewhere in the world, is awe-inspiring, and their action is history in the making.
